“We know sitting too much is bad, and most of us intuitively feel a little guilty after a long TV binge. But what exactly goes wrong in our bodies when we park ourselves for nearly eight hours per day, the average for a U.S. adult? Many things, say four experts, who detailed a chain of problems from head to toe.”
I saw this article — “The Health Hazards of Sitting” — circulating around Facebook and Twitter the other day and I just had to share it.
The owner of my box — District CrossFit — is constantly stressing about what sitting down at your work desk does to your hips, which is why you’ve gotta mobilize so much before daily WOD’s.
The Washington Post, posted a helpful list of some ways to workout at work.
One thing I try and do is roll out my feet (under my desk) with a LAX ball. While it doesn’t do anything for your hips, it’s still a great mobility exercise and the feet are often put second (or third) behind the bigger muscles.
